Invoices
PPPoE → Invoices (/dashboard/pppoe/invoices) lets you issue formal invoices to PPPoE
customers, for example for a company that needs a document for its accounts, or for one-off
work such as an installation or a router replacement.
The invoice list
Section titled “The invoice list”The list shows Invoice #, Customer, Status, Issued, Due and Total. You can filter by customer and status, sort by number, dates and total, and click a row to open the invoice. Refresh reloads the list.
Create an invoice
Section titled “Create an invoice”- Click Create Invoice. The New Invoice dialog opens.
- Choose the Customer.
- Optionally set the Currency (defaults to your ISP’s currency), Due date and Tax rate (%).
- Add Line items. Each needs a description and a unit price greater than zero; set the
quantity as needed. Shortcuts:
- Subscription adds the customer’s package at their price (their special price if they have one).
- Site visit, Installation and Router replacement add a line with that description.
- Add line adds an empty line.
- Optionally add a Reference and Notes.
- Click Create invoice. You’ll see “Invoice INV-… created.”
Subtotal, tax and total are worked out from the line items.
Working with an invoice
Section titled “Working with an invoice”Open an invoice to see it as the customer will. The buttons along the top:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Download / Print | Opens a clean print version in a new tab and starts your browser’s print dialog. Choose “Save as PDF” to get a PDF. |
| Email customer | Emails the invoice to the customer. Only shown when the customer has an email address. The page then shows when it was last emailed. |
| Record payment | Records the amount paid so far (it replaces the previous figure, it is not added to it). Paying the full total marks the invoice Paid; a smaller amount marks it Partially Paid. |
| Mark paid | Marks the whole invoice paid. |
| Mark unpaid | Sets a paid or partly paid invoice back to Unpaid. |
| Cancel | Cancels the invoice. This cannot be undone. |
Only users with PPPoE admin access can create or change invoices. Others can view them.
Statuses
Section titled “Statuses”| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unpaid | Issued and nothing recorded against it yet. |
| Partially Paid | Some of the total has been recorded. The invoice shows how much. |
| Paid | The full total has been recorded, or it was marked paid. |
| Cancelled | Withdrawn. It stays in the list for your records. |
Invoice templates
Section titled “Invoice templates”Each invoice can use one of three designs. Switch between them with the template buttons on the invoice page; the choice is saved on that invoice and used for printing too.
- Classic: clean, bordered, business-standard.
- Modern: bold coloured header, card totals.
- Minimal: airy, hairline rules, monochrome.
Invoices show your logo from your captive portal branding, so set that first if you want your logo on them.
- Add the customer’s email before creating an invoice you intend to send.
- Use Reference for a purchase order or contract number the customer gave you.
- If a customer pays in parts, use Record payment each time with the running total paid, so the invoice shows the right balance.
